Walter Block

Walter Block é um economista da escola austríaca, filósofo anarco-libertário e professor de Economia na Universidade Loyola de Nova Orleans e Senior Fellow do Instituto Ludwig von Mises. Autor e editor de vários livros onde fala dos conceitos básicos de um verdadeiro mercado livre que é o "sistema mais próximo da visão dos pais fundadores dos Estados Unidos". Numa entrevista refere os impactos negativos do salário mínimo. Defende os benefícios da privatização e distingue as diferentes formas de capitalismo. Escreveu Defending the Undefendable onde "desmascara os crimes sem vítimas". Conheceu Ludwig von Mises e jogou xadrez com Hayek. Sobre Milton Friedman diz: "Yes, he was a monetary interventionist – and that was his main thing, apart from educational vouchers, which are also a horrible idea. If someone says "monetarist," who will most people come up with by association? Milton Friedman. He was just horrible on this; he favored fractional reserve banking, he favored the Fed, all sorts of government monetary and tax intervention, and he had the audacity to name his book Free to Choose. But when people were free to choose, what did they choose? Gold. He's a disgrace."
